Education was COOL
In September of 1888, I moved to England and began training
as a barrister at University College London. It was here that I developed a new
interest in religion and different world faiths. I also joined the London Vegetarian Society, where I met tons of idealists that helped shape the way I looked
at politics and life!
Getting Beat Up Wasn’t…
There was little opportunity for barristers in India, so
after university I went to Natal, South Africa to work at an Indian law firm. But
this happened to be one of my worst experiences everrrr. Here I was kicked off
a train for riding first class (even though I had my ticket), was than beaten
up and, once in court for the incident, was asked to remove my turban. I flat
out refused this outlandish request which sent my blood boiling. How could
anyone tolerate such racial discrimination?
